At one point Fox announced it was looking for a new cast. Then during this year's Comic Con, there was no cast showing as was expected with no news on an agreement. Finally, after a couple nerve-wracking weeks for hardcore fans, a contract with the entire voice cast was finally signed, making it official.

The studio stated Futurama's "blockbuster" performance on DVD and its reruns on Comedy Central as the reason for its rebirth.

Everyone's pretty excited about it as Entertainment Weekly, The Hollywood Reporter, and Variety have already reported on it by the time Comedy Central's official press release was found.
